NDIS launches in Queensland
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is being rolled out in Townsville, Charters Towers and Palm Island as part of an early transition to the scheme.
These transition sites will deliver much-needed supports and services to children and young people under 18 years of age in Townsville and Charters Towers and all eligible people under the age of 65 in Palm Island.
Around 1600 people are expected to be eligible for the NDIS in the early transition sites, with up to 600 of these people expected to receive their funded packages by 1 July 2016.
The NDIS is a new way of providing people with disability across Australia with support to meet their disability needs and link with their community. The scheme supports people with a permanent and significant disability to take part in everyday activities.
In preparation for this transition, Community Resourcing, in collaboration with The National Disability Services (NDS) will be holding events in Townsville in regards to our Community Care Smart Assistive Technology Collaborative and the transition to the NDIS.
More details will be made available later this week.
