International Care Experienced History Month 2024

International Care Experienced History Month was initiated in 2021 by the Scottish organisation, Who Cares Scotland, a voluntary organisation, working with care experienced young people and care leavers across Scotland. The month aims to acknowledge the history, experiences and significant contributions to our communities by Care Leavers. It celebrates their advocacy, activism and resilience and their stories.

As part of the 2024 International Care Experienced History Month, the National Aged and Community Care Roundtable for Forgotten Australians (National Roundtable) hosted the "Forging Better Options: An Exploration of Aged and Community Care Considerations for Forgotten Australians and other Care Leavers” Virtual National Forum.

The Virtual National Forum explored the aged and community care considerations for Forgotten Australians and other Care Leavers. The National Event aligns with the National Roundtable’s aim to improve access, quality, and appropriate aged and community care services for Forgotten Australians and other Care Leavers. Speakers included people with lived experience, leading-edge researchers, service providers, and Government officials.
