Worlds' first Digital Hospital Handbook

Three days ago on July 7 Standards Australia published the worlds’ first Digital Hospital Handbook. The Handbook is an initiative led by the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC) and the National Health CIO Forum (NHCIOF). The Digital Hospital Handbook is focused on delivering more efficient hospital services through the use of technology. The Handbook is focused on people and outcomes and is targeted to a broad audience.

Doctor Bronwyn Evans, CEO of Standards Australia and Chair of the Industry Growth Centre for Medical Technologies and Pharmaceuticals, recognised the significance of the Handbook for Australia. ‘The document effectively aligns with industry policy, addressing the importance of technology for the sector’s future. As the first of its kind in the world, it showcases Australia’s competitiveness and capacity for innovation,’ said Doctor Evans. The Auditor says that the Handbook ‘will help modernise health care into the future’.

The Digital Hospital Handbook is constituted of a balanced representation of stakeholder interests. The membership includes representatives from government, industry, academic and health organisations. The Standards Australia technical committee is responsible for the development and creation of the Handbook.

The Handbook can be purchased through SAI Global. For enquiries, please contact Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Brett Lovett, by email at brett.lovett@standards.org.au
